Guided by expert naturists, you’ll roam through rainforest and subalpine woodland and have the most natural, unscripted bear viewing experience possible. And by visiting Wild Bear Lodge, you will be contributing to conservation efforts such as the Bear ID Project.
You’ll want for nothing in your cosy, off-the-grid cabin, complete with comfortable bathroom as well as a riverside garden and sun deck to relax in. Food is local and organic, often coming from Wild Bear Lodge’s own vegetable garden, but also providing the hearty comfort of classic cooked breakfasts and homemade fare.
Activities
In spring, you can expect to see black bears as well as moose, elk, lynx, grizzlies, and hummingbirds. In autumn, watch high-elevation bears feed on berries and grizzlies river-fishing for red salmon. Take guided walks among ancient cedars, hike into sub-alpine grizzly bear habitat or look for bald eagles and kingfishers on a river float in autumn.
Getting there
You can fly from Castlegar to Kaslo and get an airport transfer to the lodge or take a scenic 8-hour drive from Calgary or Vancouver.
