Have a wild time among coastal brown bears at a fly-in- fly-out, WWF-approved Alaskan camp.
If you want to get closer to wild bears than you thought possible, with all the comforts of glamping, then Bear Camp may be just the adventure you’re looking for.
It’s a true wilderness camp, reachable only by bush plane and located in unspoiled bear habitat surrounded by meadows, woodland and a pristine beach. Hot showers, gourmet meals prepared using regional ingredients, and heated tents make for a cosy stay.
Bears in this part of Alaska have plentiful food sources, which makes sightings common: guests often see mothers feeding their cubs in spring, and adult males fishing for salmon in summer. The camp’s professional naturalists will lead your expeditions and excursions into Lake Clark National Park, guiding you to view and photograph bears safely and with correct etiquette, at remarkably close proximity. And when evening comes, you and your small group of fellow adventurers can gather on the private viewing platforms and enjoy pre-dinner drinks before a restful night’s sleep.
A very important feature of our Bear Camp adventure is the limited group size, as nature expeditions and wildlife encounters are best experienced in a quiet, intimate context.
Activities
Your Alaskan Bear Camp adventure begins when you board a small bush plane and take a thrilling flight above the Cook Inlet’s active volcanoes and glaciers. You might see bears at play from the aeroplane window, before you land on the pristine beach that fronts the wilderness camp. It’s the first of countless opportunities to view and photograph brown bears up close, in their natural habitat. See bears in the meadows that surround the camp, on the shoreline fishing for salmon, from the camp’s viewing platforms, and on walks and excursions with the camp’s naturalist guides. This is an experience like no other, in Alaska’s best brown bear habitat.
