Every kind of outdoor adventure, from rafting and riding to yoga and foraging, awaits you in the breath-taking Kispiox Valley.
Picture the Great Outdoors and you’ll probably imagine a place like Bear Claw Lodge – a spacious timber lodge in 700,000 acres of pure Canadian wilderness, where wolf calls echo throughout the forest at night.
The Kispiox Valley is your opportunity to get lost in nature. You choose how to explore the valley, hiking in small, guided groups, on horseback in the mountains, or rafting and kayaking down the river.
The lodge itself is your home from home, a place to sip drinks by the great fireplace, relax in the river stone Jacuzzi, or take a book from the library. Grab a house rod for your next fishing trip, and cast your line in the same waters where grizzlies fish for wild salmon. And just like home all of your meals and snacks are included, so get ready to enjoy delicious local produce at the communal table and out among nature.
Activities
Raft and kayak on the shimmering Kispiox River, snorkel with salmon, or go fishing in the home pool a few yards from your room. Explore the valley on horseback or in your hiking boots, on countless miles of mountain and riverside trails. Or, if you prefer a more relaxed experience, join a yoga session or go foraging for wild mushrooms you can bring back to the lodge’s chefs. With over 17 hours of daylight in Western Canada’s long summer days, you can pack in all the adventure you can handle.
Getting there
You’ll fly to Smithers or Terrace in British Columbia and take a shuttle transfer to Bear’s Claw Lodge.
